      <image:title>MD Bloch-Hansen - MD Bloch-Hansen (They/Them) Registered Social Worker</image:title>
<image:caption>Hi! I’m MD (they/them), a queer, gender-fluid, white settler of Italian and Danish descent, based in Tkaronto. I show up in the community as an integrative somatic trauma therapist, performance artist, and doula. As a therapist, I take a liberatory and justice-oriented approach that honours each person’s embodied wisdom and strengths. With a background in dance and the performing arts, I hold a deep reverence for the non-verbal language that the body and consciousness offer to the therapeutic space. My work supports people in reconnecting with their bodies, and their aliveness --to find a sense of presence, steadiness, curiosity and creative expression--as pathways toward resilience, resistance, and re-membering. In my private practice, I offer holistic support for experiential and relational healing, weaving together talk-based (top-down) approaches with bottom-up somatic practices, including movement, sound meditation, and expressive arts. My work as a therapist is guided by my training and education in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP), Body-Mind Centering® (BMC®), Parts Work/IFS, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Generative Somatics, among others. I also work part-time as a gender-affirming counsellor at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, supporting trans and gender-diverse youth and their families. I particularly enjoy working with 2S-LGBTQIA+ adolescents and adults (17+), as well as parents/caregivers, careworkers, those navigating perinatal experiences, those in recovery, neurodivergent folks, artists and folks working through life transitions, chronic stress/distress and complex/acute trauma. With my background as a professional artist, I hold a special interest in supporting other artists navigating the challenges of working in an economy that too often undervalues the arts, making it incredibly difficult to sustain creative practice. I believe artists are healers of our collective body and deserve care and support to continue their vital work. I also love supporting folks involved in activism or community organizing around collective struggles for liberation and resistance to fascism, as well as those looking to confront their whiteness and white supremacy. At this time, I work exclusively with individuals, though I hope to offer services to families and couples in the future—stay tuned! Beyond my clinical work, I offer group facilitation, workshops, and conference presentations in somatics, perinatal movement, childbirth education, yoga, sound meditation, and general mental health and wellness. I hold a BFA in Performance Dance, a BA in Psychology, and a Master of Social Work, and I continue to deepen my studies in somatics through SP, BMC®, and Generative Somatics, alongside ongoing individual and group supervision. I see clients in private practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you’re interested in working together, we can set up a 15 minute consultation to see if we’d be a good fit! Psychotherapy Rate: $165/50 minutes Sound Meditation Rate: $180/60 minutes Sliding Scale: $130 and up www.somaticpractice.ca marydorabh@somaticpractice.ca</image:caption>

<image:caption>As a queer person of colour, I bring a unique perspective to supporting people living with challenges associated with identity, gender, sexuality, sexual health, relationship dynamics and forced migration seeking to understand how to develop security and belonging in their surrounding environment. I do my best to support clients with developing both understandings and practical solutions to achieve their goals of managing every day triggers that may impede completing activities of daily living. I have preference for engaging with the QPOC community and have expertise in refugee mental health with particular interest in trauma associated with forced migration due to LGBTQ+ identity. I work from a perspective of strengths based resiliency with my practice grounded in queer critical race theory and anti-oppressive practice. I do my best to create an environment of non-judgment that recognizes how our unique intersecting identities interact with the systems of oppression we live within. <image:caption>I believe that the challenges we face are inherently political. Internal struggles are connected to oppressive structures across generations. The behaviours and emotions we socially deem as problems are rather ways we’ve learned to survive and cope in an ultimately harmful world. Healing is about learning to feel safe again after a lifetime of survival. In our sessions together, this could look like exploring internal and external barriers to boundary setting, reclaiming your agency, learning to feel your body, and connecting with community. We work together to address these barriers and bring you closer to your truest self. Our conversations are exploratory, non-pathologizing, and centered around your choice and needs. I am drawn to the transformative change and depth brought through approaches like trauma-centered inner child work, Internal Family Systems, and Somatics, but also understand the value of everyday coping skills, which I draw from Dialectical Behavioural Therapy. My interest and focus is in working with queer and trans BIPOC youth as well as refugee and newcomer youth of all intersecting identities. I am familiar and comfortable with topics centering family dynamics, relationships, diasporic identity, and self worth. I am an IFHP provider and covered by all insurances that accept a Registered Social Worker. Initial 15 minute phone consultations are free of charge. If you are interested in working with me, I’d love to hear from you. Fee: $120 Sliding Scale: Yes Contact me</image:caption>

<image:caption>As a gay, South Asian, cisgendered man who was born and raised in Dubai, UAE, before moving to Toronto, I am uniquely positioned to understand the struggles faced by BIPOC, queer, or immigrant folks. I have also previously lived in New York, Bangalore, Tehran, and Nairobi, which has helped me gain rich and immersive experiences in various cultures. More importantly, exposure to this diversity has shaped me into a nonjudgmental human being who strives to bring warmth, comfort, and growth to others. Although my undergraduate education was in Finance at New York University, I later completed a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. These two chapters of my life helped me discern how to navigate living in a capitalistic society while remaining true to my humanity and generous spirit. You are likely here because today’s society is harmfully affecting humanity, and we can navigate that together. So, what does therapy with me look like? Like most experienced therapists, I employ an integrative approach tailored to your specific needs and goals. First, I learn as much as possible about you so I can meet you exactly where you are. Once we have your therapeutic goals refined and are aligned with your values, I use a blend of various approaches to help you integrate your thoughts and emotions while honouring your cultural wisdom. Through deep compassion, mindfulness exercises, tears, and a lot of laughter- we will get to your goals, one step at a time, and together. <image:caption>Life can be messy. Therapy can be a way to navigate life’s most painful moments in a safe and supportive container. I’m grounded in a relational approach and believe that it is the connections in our lives which foster growth and well-being. I help clients to deepen insight and self awareness, as well as identify obstacles to making change. Valuing the importance of the therapeutic relationship, I will create an environment which nurtures compassion and authentic being. I will honour the breadth of emotions in therapy and make room for whatever challenges arise. I have experience working in mental health organizations with issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, navigating sexual/gender identity and existential questioning. I am trained in spiritually-integrated therapy, and am passionate about supporting people to find meaning, purpose and hope in times of difficulty. I am also undergoing training in Hakomi psychotherapy, a somatic and mindfulness based modality, which uses body-oriented techniques to bring about change and move through limiting core beliefs and patterns.
